Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Pour-Over Kettle: Is it right for you?
Fellow Stagg EKG: Precision Pour-Over Kettle for Serious Coffee Brewers
The Fellow Stagg EKG is an electric gooseneck kettle designed specifically for pour-over coffee and precision tea brewing. Its 304 stainless-steel body houses a 0.9 L (30 oz) chamber heated by a 1000–1200W element, controllable from 104°F to 212°F in 0.5°F increments via a push-dial and full-color LCD. A built-in brew stopwatch, Guide Mode presets for common coffee and tea methods, and an adjustable Hold Mode (up to 60 minutes) round out a feature set aimed at brewers who treat temperature and timing as variables worth controlling. The kettle carries ETL, UL, CSA, and FCC certifications and was awarded Editor's Choice by Tom's Guide. It is not a general-purpose kitchen kettle — its small capacity, higher price, and short 2.5 ft cord reflect its focused design.
The short answer
A purpose-built gooseneck kettle with to-the-degree temperature control and a built-in brew timer — the go-to choice for pour-over enthusiasts who want precision in the cup.

How we research our recommendationsA good fit if…
Home pour-over brewers (V60, Chemex, Kalita) and loose-leaf tea drinkers who want repeatable water temperature and timed pours. Also useful at elevation thanks to a dedicated altitude calibration setting.
Skip it if…
You need a large-capacity kettle for family-sized servings, you want an all-purpose kitchen kettle, or the price is hard to justify for occasional coffee use. Wirecutter notes the Cuisinart GK-1 Gooseneck as a lower-cost alternative with comparable performance. Also skip if your counter space or outlet placement can't accommodate a short 2.5 ft cord.
What actually matters
Gooseneck spout: The elongated, curved spout is engineered for a slow, controlled pour, allowing precise saturation of coffee grounds during the bloom and main pour phases without dribbling at low flow rates.
Temperature control: Adjustable from 104°F to 212°F in 0.5°F steps via a push-dial interface. Serious Eats testing found temperature accuracy within 1°F at 190°F and 200°F — the best in its test category at time of review.
Brew Stopwatch and Guide Mode: A built-in timer starts when pouring begins. Guide Mode offers preset target temperatures for common brew methods and tea types, removing guesswork for less experienced brewers.
Hold Mode and schedule: Water stays at your set temperature for 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. You can also schedule the kettle to heat to a target temperature at a specific time.
Altitude setting and pre-boil mode: An altitude calibration prevents boiling over at elevation. Pre-boil mode heats to maximum temperature first (useful for sanitizing or degassing water) before dropping to the set temperature.
Build and materials: 304 18/8 stainless-steel body; handle and lid pull are BPA-free plastic on standard models or walnut/maple wood on premium variants. The Studio Edition uses a reflective glass base and metal accents. California Prop 65 notice is posted by the manufacturer. Designed for water only — heating other liquids voids the warranty.
Capacity and cord: At 0.9 L (30 oz), it is smaller than many general-use kettles. The power cord is 2.5 ft — shorter than typical kitchen appliances, which can limit counter placement. Tom's Guide flagged both as practical drawbacks for non-dedicated coffee setups.
Certifications: ETL compliant, UL compliant, CSA certified, FCC certified — all listed on the manufacturer's product page. Awarded Editor's Choice by Tom's Guide (review published January 2025).
